The She CUMS First Collection
For as long as I could remember I had been dreaming up a clothing collection , specifically t-shirts. As a teenager I was obsessed with surf and skateboarding culture and fashion and loved brands like Billabong, Alien Workshop, Stussy & QuikSilver. I love concert tees and even inherited my grandfather’s TShirt Collection.
I have journal entries with sketches dating back to 2017 with sayings, ideas, phrases, and themes all centered in a clothing collection that promotes womxn, encourages female empowerment, and is created through the female gaze. In the summer of 2020, we got to work on making some of these notes and little memos on my phone a reality. I took my love of pizza, the heartbreak and fck boy stories of my group chat, along with the first photo that got me into a gallery and a few of my 7-year-old niece’s catch phrases and got to work with illustrator Kylie Knudson.
The “She Cums First Collection” was created and released during the NYC Lockdown and COVID Quarantine.
Due to social distancing and the pandemic planning a photo shoot for the collection was proving to be a challenge as we couldn’t gather inside. I decided to shoot it myself on the streets of SOHO in NYC. I phone in some favors - got a bunch of friends of “the project” and nurses together to make the collection shoot a reality.
